Leon Carswell aka Vietnam

Leon “Vietnam” Carswell began dancing at age 6 by watching television and movies such as Beat street and Wildstyle in the 1980′s. He took up every hip hop dance form as the years changed. In the 90′s he met the breakers in the scene and began battling. By 1998 Vietnam had won the world championships with Rock Force Crew and in 1999 was awarded Best Individual.
By 2000 Vietnam and crew had won every major breaking championship in the world such as B.O.T.Y., FreestyleSession, BBoy Summit.

Vietnam has also been featured in some major projects in Hollywood on movies Step Up 3D, Meet the Spartans, televisions shows Zeke and Luther, and America’s Got Talent.Vietnam has been on tour with Missy Elliott for the past 8 years.

He is also in music videos with Jennifer Lopez – Papi, Cali Swag District – Teach Me How To Dougie, and adverts with SonyPSP and Fiat.

Vietnam in the meantime has branched out to working with the youth and participating in programs involving schools and universities. After teaching his first class in 2000 in London, his love for teaching developed. Ironically, Vietnam never took much formal dance class, yet realized the reason for it all one day in a dance session.

Since then he has instructed and lectured in dance and dance business in England, Paris, Japan, Mexico, France, and California.
