The Studio Building of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (Semperdepot) was packed with more than 600 enthusiastic spectators Saturday night, eagerly cheering on the battles before them that would determine 2014’s best Austrian B-Boy. Fifty B-Boys and B-Girls attended the pre-selection process Friday at The Loft, in the hopes of qualifying for the Red Bull BC One Austria Cypher. Red Bull BC One All Star RoxRite exhibited his skills and passed on knowledge to the dancers in a workshop Saturday afternoon as well.
After rounds of exciting battles, the final saw Ahmet Aydin, aka Harlekin, emerge victorious as this year’s Austria Cypher Champion. Even he was surpised by his impressive performance. "I never thought I would win today, but with the support of my friends and my crew, my dream has come true," he said. RoxRite, who also judged the Cypher, was impressed by his skills. “I really liked Harlekin’s approach,” he said. “He showed so many great and versatile moves, and his win is more than well-deserved." Harlekin now has his eyes set on Helsinki, Finland, where he will dance at the Red Bull Western Europe Final against other B -Boys and B-Girls from all over Western Europe.
