The 2022 IWGA World Games in Birmingham, USA, will be the
Olympic Format.
This is the format, WDSF will use for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as well as for the Top 16 and onwards of all qualification events to the Games.
Olympic Format
The
Olympic Format starts with Top 16 dancing 1vs1 battles in a Round Robin - 4 groups of 4 Athletes each. The top two Athletes of each group will then proceed to the Top 8.
Top 8 is danced with 1vs1 battles in
best of 3 format. The winners proceed to the semi-finals.
Semi-finals will be held in
2-90-2 format with the winners proceeding to the finals and the losers proceeding to the battle for 3rd place/Bronze.
The battle for Bronze and the final/battle for Gold will then have the same format.
Number of Rounds
To win the Competition the Athletes have to perform:
6 Rounds in the Round Robin Phase
2, maybe 3 Rounds in the quarter finals
4, maybe 5 Rounds in the semi-finals
4, maybe 5 Rounds in the finals
this means
16 to 19 Rounds in total
