True School Battle 2016 Review

Originality and relaxed jam character! This is exactly what you sensed at the 2nd True School Battle 2016 in Pfarrsaal Schoren in Dornbirn (Austria). The FRK-Danceschool and Prodigyy had invited and many dancers from the neighbouring cities but also from other parts of Austria as well as Italy, Germany and Switzerland came to experience Hip Hop once again and to spend a good time together. Different battles such as 5vs5 Breaking Kidz, 3vs3 Breaking and 5vs5 All Style, in which the participating crews delivered exciting and impressive exchanges of moves and skills, were part of the programme.

All breaking battles were judged by the Red Bull BC One Allstar Cico (Italy) as well as by the Red Bull BC One Switzerland Champion Artur and Austria's Powerboy Intus from The Only Kingz from Linz. The jury for the All Style Battles consisted of Michel Stalder aka 99 Moves from the Ghost Rockz (Switzerland) plus Tricky and Nadja from the Prodigyy Crew (Austria). The voice and the MC of the night was none other than Austria's "one and only" Mike Tike from M.O.T. from Salzburg. Together with the DJs Funky Mike and Uncle Willi he brought a familiar and a stylish atmosphere into the "True School Battles 2016".

In the 5vs5 Breaking Kidz Battles the "Groove Allstars" from Switzerland could prevail against some other strong competitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Even the junior group of the known "Saxonz" came specially from Dresden (Germany) to take part and made it into the semi final. The winner of the 5vs5 All Style Battle was the All-Star-Crew "How I Funk Your Mother" who persuaded with groovy team performance and good skills. In the final of the 3vs3 Breaking (Pro) Battle Fifty, Freaky Phil and Guti, who danced under the pseudonym "Backstreet Boys" met on the "Exnatic Gorilla" consisting of Bench, D.Chan and Bobby Balboa. In the end the 3 Austrians decided the battle for themselves.

Due to the fact that the event location offered a lot of room capacity and free space many dancers were cyphering and jaming for themselves before, during and after the battle. This way they had the opportunity to exchange with eachother, to learn from eachother and to meet old and new friends. In the foyer despite the carpeted floor there were often some spontaneous fun cyphers with many amusing and funny moments. In addition there were many conversations and discussions about current topics such as "Judging Systems" or the upcoming Red Bull BC One Austria Cypher 2016. For this event BC One Allstar Cico choosed the best Austrian dancer and honored Bboy Guti from the Prodigyy & Hungry Sharks with a wildcard for the cypher 2016. Surprised but happy Guti accepted this invitation in the form of a golden medal with a BC One emblem.

All in all it was a successful event with flava and that certain something - just Hip Hop! A great thank you goes to the FRK team and the Prodigyy Crew, above all to Funky Mike and Ingeborg Peter, for the caring and warm organisation. Once again they made clear that Dornbirn is always worth a visit and the next jam is definitely in planning.
