Breaking at the World Games 2022

For the first time the Discipline DanceSport Breaking is part of the World Games.
The Rundown called is "Olympic Format" and it will be also used in the Olympics in Paris 2024.

It was judged by the Trivium Value System provided by and8.
- 2 Rounds per each Battle in the Round Robin Phase
- Quarter Final Battles are best of 3
- Semi-finals to Finals were be held in 2-90-2

Top 16 B-Girls and Top 16 B-Boys battling for Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in the Venue Sloss Furnaces.
The Round Robin Qualification was planned for Satturday July 9th until the announcement of a heavy storm triggered a reschedule of the qualification to Sunday morning. We got informed that the storms there usually bring heavy rain and wind speeds can reach up to 100 km/h.

It was extremely hot on Saturday and fortunately temperatures dropped to much better conditions on Sunday.

On Sunday July 10th the Round Robin started on time with amazing battles.
B-Girls:
- Winner of 4 Groups the were JPN Ami, CAN Tiff, JPN Ayumi and USA Sunny.
- Second Places GER Jilou, FRA Senorita Carlota, CHN Qingyi and BEL Camine.
B-Boys:
- Winner of 4 Groups the were ESP Xak, USA Victor, FRA Dany Dann and JPN Shigekix.
- Second Places CAN Phil Wizard, USA Jeffro, USA Morris and KOR Zooty Zoot.

The evening part of the day was the Quarterfinals to the Finals of both genders. From here on it was live streamed on the Olympic Channel.

Olympic Format
Top 16 Round Robin (in 4 Groups) followed by a Top 8 Knock-Out, including Battle for 3rd Place.

Round Robin
Groups are formed and battle "all-against-all" with a final standing per Group determining who proceeds to next round

best of 3
Battle format - the first Athlete to win two rounds

2-90-2
Battle format with 2 Rounds followed by a 90 second break followed by another 2 Rounds. One Athlete starts the first 2 Rounds, the opponent starts the second 2 Rounds.
