He is one of the shooting stars of the international breaking scene. This proves not only his participation together with his team colleagues Robin and Alkolil in the 3vs3 battle at the Silverback Open 2017 in Philadelphia where the Russian trio made it into the final, but also his success in the qualification tournaments for the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.
In the online-video-qualification Sergei Chernyshev, known as Bumblebee in the scene, achieved the first place in the national ranking. Also in the Continental Qualifier in Essen he reached the same placing and acquired with the second place at the World Championship in Kawasaki the qualification for Olympia.
Bumblebee’s love for breaking is not far fetched as his father was one of the first breakers and initiators of the breaking dance sport in his hometown Voronezh where his parents lead the dance school `Infinity Dance Studio´ today. When Bumblebee started breaking at the age of nine under the guidance of his father he already possessed good physical conditions since he had previously been attending high-performance gymnastic classes for four years.
His father, who also embodies his closest person of reference, he owes the largest part of his development in dance. Furthermore Bumblebee finds inspiration in rap, acting, martial arts, music and other dance styles. He is also interested in the training methods of other successful athletes and tries thus to create new ideas for his own practise. In this way each day of the 18-year-old starts with running workout, afterwards he does specific exercises for his back which contribute to cure previous injuries.
With the qualification for Olympia Bumblebee has already reached a great goal. He is very proud to represent Russia, his homeland, as the first athlete in the `breaking´ discipline. This honour brings not only fame but also many obligations, for this reason at the moment for Bumblebee all days are dedicated to training.
The greatest strength of the young Russian lies not only in his Russian soul, as he says, but also in the weightlessness of his moves. It is not unusual for Bumblebee when people say that his style resembles flying as he himself feels it the same way.
Besides breaking he loves acting and the poems of the Russian lyric poet Sergej Jessenin. After a successful audition for a Russian TV series Bumblebee will soon be seen not only in the battle cypher but also on TV, at least in the Russian-speaking countries. Becoming an actor is, after a career as a b-boy, Bumblebee’s second-biggest dream.
