Although he has been dancing only for five years Mattia Schinco aka Bad Matty has already come a long way. In addition to the Red Bull BC One Italy Cypher where the Milan-born dancer worked his way to the TOP8 this year, he also reached the first place in the national ranking in the online-video-qualification for the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games. In the Continental Qualifier in Essen Bad Matty was given the eleventh position only, however at the World Championship in Kawasaki the 17-year-old battled his way to the third place again and consequently secured his qualification for Olympia.
But that, what looks today so light, dynamic and easygoing, had made a bumpy start five years ago. It was at the dance school which was led by a friend’s parents where Bad Matty took his first breaking classes - without any previous education and sense for rhythm, though the enthusiasm for this art of moving aroused in Bad Matty immediately.
As a pupil of Giuseppe Di Mauro aka Kacyo Bad Matty is well-experienced in toprock, footwork and freezes. His greatest inspiration the Milanese received from icons of the scene such as Victor, Issei and Sunni. “I wanted to become like them, so I trained hard”, he says.
Participating in the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games is not just a major honour and a big pleasure for Bad Matty but also an enormous opportunity to make a name for himself on an international level. One day standing in the Red Bull BC One World Final - this is one of the goals the charismatic b-boy has targeted for his future.
