Athlete: Chia-Cheng Chien aka KennyG (Chinese Taipei)

`No good body health, no good dance performed´ is the slogan of Chia-Cheng Chien aka KennyG. Born in Taoyuan in Chinese Taipei in 2000 he started dancing at the age of thirteen. After five years of training and numerous national battles such as High School High, Red Bull BC One Taiwan Cypher, World B-Boy Classic Taiwan, Battle of the Year Taiwan KennyG achieved the second place in the Continental Qualifier in Taipei.

It was a great surprise for the 18-year-old cause he himself had never thought he would have a chance. “I was totally freestyling in the semi final and in the final”, he says. This unexpected success brought the young dancer a high degree of reputation in Japan and Korea and a sponsor in Taiwan. Also in Kawasaki KennyG delivered with place 8 a remarkable performance.

The first time the Taiwanese came into touch with breaking was at Junior High School. Until then he had only seen it in movies but now he knew that he really wants to learn it.

KennyG has no own crew but is just a student at the Top Coalition Studio and practises under the guidance of Lee Yi Fu aka Lil Dragon. His idols, besides the `Top Coalition Crew´, are `Floorriorz´ from Japan as well as the `Jinjo´ and the `Rivers´ Crew from Korea. Since KennyG practises a lot of different footwork, he also sees his greatest strength in this element. In addition it is very important for him to make his dance style unmistakable in order to distinguish himself from other b-boys.

The Olympic nominee finds distraction through training, spending time with his girlfriend and other relaxing activities such as video games.

One day making a name for himself in the global scene is one of the goals KennyG has foreseen for his future.
