Honorarprofessur der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität an Niels "Storm" Robitzky verliehen
Die Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität freut sich über einen neuen Honorarprofessor: Am 2. April 2023 ernannten Landeshauptmann Mag. Thomas Stelzer und Rektor Martin Rummel den international erfolgreichen Choreographen Niels Robitzky zum Honorarprofessor der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität. Im Rahmen des Festakts erhielten auch die Absolvent*innen des Lehrgangs Urban Dance Styles ihre Zertifikate.
Die ABPU verleiht Honorarprofessuren an Persönlichkeiten aus dem Kunst- oder Wissenschaftsbetrieb, die der Universität in besonderer Weise verbunden sind. Diese Verbundenheit trifft auch auf Niels Robitzky zu, der den Lehrgang "Urban Dance Styles" an der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität von Beginn an maßgeblich mitgestaltet und geprägt hat.
"Die Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität nimmt mit dem Lehrgang Urban Dance Styles eine Vorreiterrolle im deutschsprachigen Raum im Bereich der universitären Ausbildung für urbanen Tanz ein. Mit der Ernennung von Niels Robitzky zum Honorarprofessor der ABPU bekennen wir uns als Kulturland Oberösterreich gerade auch zur Förderung moderner künstlerischer Ausdrucksformen", so Landeshauptmann Mag. Thomas Stelzer, der auch Vorsitzender des Universitätsrats der ABPU ist.
Rektor Martin Rummel begründet die Verleihung der Honorarprofessur an Niels Robitzky auch mit seiner Vorbildwirkung für die Studierenden: "Ich freue mich sehr, dass wir eine internationale Größe der urbanen Tanzszene durch die Ernennung zum Honorarprofessor langfristig an die ABPU binden können. Niels Robitzky ist eine vielseitige Künstlerpersönlichkeit und für unsere Studierenden ein Vorbild für innovative Herangehensweisen an künstlerisches Schaffen.”
"Ich bin dankbar für die Zusammenarbeit mit einer Institution, die so engagiert und professionell arbeitet wie die Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität. Die Zeit, die ich bisher hier verbringen durfte, hat mir nicht nur wertvolle Erfahrungen gebracht, sondern auch weitere fachliche Kompetenzen und auch eine echte Begeisterung für die Arbeit im Bereich der Urbanen Tanzformen. Ich freue mich sehr auf die weitere Zusammenarbeit und auf eine spannende und solide gemeinsame Zukunft", so Niels Robitzky in seinen Dankesworten.
Im Rahmen des Festaktes wurde auch den Absolvent*innen des Lehrgangs Urban Dance Styles ihre Zertifikate für die erfolgreiche Absolvierung ihrer Ausbildung an der ABPU verliehen. Der Lehrgang rund um urbane Tanzkulturen startete an der ABPU erstmals im Sommersemester 2016 und brachte bereits über 70 Absolvent*innen hervor.
Niels "Storm" Robitzky
Die tänzerische Karriere von "Storm" begann, als er 1984 bereits mit seiner Crew durch Norddeutschland reiste, um die damals neuen Tänze aus Amerika mit Namen Popping und Breaking zu präsentieren. Nach dem Schulabschluss vernetzte er durch weltweite Reisen mit Freunden und Kollegen die weltweite Breaking Szene und ließ sich in New York nieder. Hier wurde er 1992 Mitglied der ersten Hip-Hop-Tanztheater- Kompanie mit Namen Ghettoriginal. Etwa zur gleichen Zeit moderierte er in Deutschland die Hip-Hop Schwerpunkt Sendung Freestlye auf VIVA. Im Jahr 1996 gründete er seine eigene Tanzkompanie mit Namen Storm&Jazzy Project und tourte weltweit mit verschiedenen Produktionen wie: Funky Town, Men@work, Solo4two und Geome-tronomics. Im Jahr 2006 choreographierte er die Eröffnungszeremonie der FIFA WM in München. Danach wandte sich Storm mehr der Tanzinterpretation und Tanzausbildung zu. Im Jahr 2000 veröffentlichte er ein Buch über die Tanzgeschichte von Breaking in Deutschland, mit dem Titel "Von Swipe zu Storm". Zuletzt wurde er dazu berufen ein Bewertungssystem für Breaking Battles zu entwickeln. Es entstand das Trivium, ein Performanceanalyse Modell, welches auch bei den Olympischen Spielen 2024 zum Einsatz kommen wird.
